We are ALAN & KERRY BATES, we have both had dogs since we were kids and it was
a chance meeting that made such a successful relationship, when we met Kerry was
managing a Pet shop and grooming parlour. A partnership where both involved love
dogs, can only succeed in my opinion!!!
We have been into the dogs since child hood,
but seriously into them since 1991, I have entered the 25th year as of 2011.
We originally
bred the Bulldogs but one day I got a call to go look at some Bordeauxs at a local
quarantine kennel, that was it, I was hooked!!! The Bulldogs took a back seat while
the quest began. I purchased my first Bordeaux in 1993!
We imported many dogues from
many parts of the world. We bred a male called BAILEY (KENYEE WORLD CUP FEVER) unfortunately
we did not have an affix as when he was born the Kennel Club had not accepted the
breed.
Our first Affix was LARUSCADE named after a small village in Bordeaux, later on we
switched to BRANDOUX, which I must add is our son Luc’s middle name, LUC BRANDOUX
BATES, plus BRANDOUX BORDEAUXS had a ring to it!!!
We became so hooked on the dogs
that we had to move away from London to have more room for the dogs, we went onto
get Kennel Club acceptance of the breed, we started the first Bordeaux club in the
UK,we were instrumental in the standard being accepted by the K.C.
The first to breed
and own Champion Bordeaux, Jr World Champion and European Champions... the list
goes on and on!!!
Our days with the Bordeauxs were pretty much over by 2006 and we
went back to concentrating on our Bulldogs, with Our first Champion being BRANDOUX
GLEAMING LAD owned by Bryan Stubberfield at Unstopabull.
We have such a passion for
our dogs and were told by many french breeders that the FRENCH BULLDOG was like a
little Dogue de Bordeaux, were so intrigued that we started the very long search
for excellent quality French Bulldogs...
We now (2011) have already had success in
the show ring and hope that the future will be bright for BRANDOUX!!!
